An active commute can sound like a complete redesign of the morning. Yet one suitable section may be enough to make the journey feel different.
Look at the final bus or tram stops near your destination. Is there an earlier stop with a safe, continuous pedestrian route? Check crossings, lighting and the extra time involved. Do not assume the space between adjacent stops is designed for walking.
Try the option when you are not carrying much and can afford to change plans. Keep the usual route available for bad weather, delays or days when the extra walk does not suit you. A flexible option is easier to use than a rule that punishes inconvenience.
The return trip deserves a separate look. Traffic patterns, darkness and service frequency can make it a different problem. Start with the direction that works best, then decide whether the other adds anything useful to your day.
